Cosmetic Surgery Breast Procedures
Breast Augmentation |

Breast Augmentation is a cosmetic surgery procedure to increase the size and shape of a woman's breasts. If you have small underdeveloped breasts, breasts that that have atrophied after pregnancy or two different sized breasts, augmentation mammoplasty can help. This surgical procedure can increase the size and shape of a woman’s breasts. By placing an implant behind each breast, your surgeon can increase your bustline by one or more bra cup sizes. Sometimes a breast lift is done at the same time to raise and lift sagging breast tissues.

Breast Lift (Mastopexy) |
Pregnancy, weight gain and loss, gravity and breast feeding all take their toll on your breasts. The breasts lose their shape and firmness as the skin loses its elasticity. Surgery to reshape and lift sagging, droopy breasts is called mastopexy, or breast lift. It can also reduce the size of an enlarged areola (the dark skin around the nipple). A breast lift may be done in conjunction with a breast augmentation if your breasts are small, underdeveloped or have lost volume due to pregnancy.

Breast Reduction |

Breast Reduction Mammoplasty is a reconstructive surgical procedure to reduce the size of very large breasts. Women with very large breasts are often plagued with back and neck pain, skin irritation and bra strap grooving. Exercising can be uncomfortable. Breast reduction surgery is often done to relieve physical discomfort rather than for cosmetic reasons. Surgery isn’t performed in younger women until the breasts are fully developed (usually by age 18) and the patient is mature enough to understand the procedure and expectations. Breast reduction surgery may interfere with future plans to breast feed.

| Breast Reconstruction |

With today’s reconstructive surgery techniques, surgeons can rebuild a breast so that it will match in both appearance and shape to a natural breast. The surgery can be as simple as creating a pocket and placing a breast implant, or more complex involving muscle and tissue flaps to create a breast mound. The type of surgery you will need depends on your individual circumstances and the extent of your mastectomy. Two or more surgeries are usually required to reconstruct the breast.
Breast reconstruction techniques can also be used to correct severely asymmetrical breasts, such as a very large breast on one side and an underdeveloped breast on the opposite side. The undeveloped breast may have a missing or undeveloped breast muscle.

| Male Breast Reduction (Gynecomastia) |
Gynecomastia is a fairly common but rarely talked about condition of enlarged male breasts. Sometimes overdeveloped male breasts can be linked to specific drugs or medical problems. But most commonly gynecomastia is caused by excess localized fat deposits. Breast reduction surgery for men can help them feel better about their appearance.
