Plastic Surgery Statistics For 2011 

From the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS):

NEW YORK, NY (March 20, 2012) – The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) today released their 15thannual multi-specialty procedural statistics. The Aesthetic Society, which has collected plastic surgery procedural statistics since 1997, says the overall number of cosmetic surgery procedures has increased 197 percent since the tracking of the statistics first began. Almost 9.2 million cosmetic surgical and nonsurgical procedures were performed in the United States in 2011. The most frequently performed surgical procedure was lipoplasty (liposuction) and the most popular nonsurgical procedure was injections of Botulinum Toxin Type A (including Botox and Dysport).

"For fifteen years these statistics have been a large part of the Aesthetic Society’s public education mission,” said Jeffrey M. Kenkel, MD, President of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. “Since 1997, the interest in and demand for cosmetic plastic surgery has risen exponentially and our comprehensive statistics continue to show that.”  

Cosmetic surgical procedures increased almost 1 percent in the past year, with over 1.6 million procedures in 2011. Surgical procedures accounted for 18% of the total numbers of procedure performed representing 63% of total expenditures.  The top five surgical procedures were: 

• Liposuction (325,332)
• Breast augmentation (316,848)
• Abdominoplasty (149,410)
• Eyelid surgery (147,540)
• Breast Lift (127,054)

Cosmetic minimally-invasive procedures performed one of the surveyed physicians decreased almost 2 percent, with over 7.5 million procedures in 2011. Nonsurgical procedures accounted for 82% of the total number of procedures performed representing 37% of total expenditures. 

For the first time ever this survey asked the doctors for the total number of non-surgical procedures being performed in their practices by BOTH physicians and their physician assistants and nurse injectors.

"Growth in demand will likely coninue to grow as  baby boomers and their offspring begin to explore surgical options," said Dr. Kenkel. "Minimally-invasive procedures such as Botox and soft tissue fillers work to a point. However, as you age and gravity takes over, surgical procedures that lift the skin and reshape the underlying tissues are necessary in order to show significant improvement." 

Women had almost 8.4 million cosmetic procedures, 91% of the total. The number of cosmetic procedures for women increased over 208% from 1997. The top five surgical procedures for women were: breast augmentation, liposuction, tummy tuck, eyelid surgery, and breast lift. 

Men had almost 800,000 cosmetic procedures, 9% of the total. The number of cosmetic procedures for men increased over 121% from 1997. The top five surgical procedures for men were: liposuction, rhinoplasty, eyelid surgery, breast reduction to treat enlarged male breast, and facelift.

Alexis Bellino’s Rhinoplasty Update (Real Housewives of Orange County)

I wrote about Alexis Bellino’s Rhinoplasty last year on this blog (Real Housewives of Orange County Alexis Bellino “Nose Job” Orange County Nose Surgeon). However, there was no clear confirmation why the reality star went under the procedure. It’s no secret that Alexis is a gorgeous mom who is a perfectionist when it comes to taking care of herself. Self-proclaimed Christian, this girl knows how to set the bar high when it comes to looking good. 

I watched the Real Housewives of Orange County last night, as you all know; I’m a huge fun of the show since 2009. Alexis was irritated last night when the girls Tamra Barney and Gretchen Rossi mentioned her plans for the procedure; the reason being why the girls are making jokes about it because Alexis claims that she is getting Rhinoplasty to fix her sinus problem. I mean, come on’ really? Alexis got so defensive about it. But what’s more interesting to me, is when she said that she had never done any procedure on her face rather than Botox and Lip injections. And of course, her huge breast implants! To be honest, I really thought, she had more done to her face. This confirms to me that she is naturally beautiful.

Tamra called her out and telling Alexis that she should not be using sinuses as an excuse to get a nose job and she should get a nose job for she has a huge nose; Telling Alexis to own it rather than making excuse. Ouch! And she is right!

These days, many celebrities are going under the knife for medical purposes. To me, it is very shallow and dishonest. I know some may have been actually telling the truth, but I am very sure that these celebrities are going under the knife to enhance themselves to look perfect. From Ashley Tisdale, Jennifer Aniston and the list goes on and on and on. In this modern world we are living in, plastic surgery has evolved so much that it has become a part of our daily lives. But these public figures just need to be honest about it. There is nothing wrong with plastic surgery for as long as you’re doing it in moderation and enhance your look. But to lie about and make excuses is really, really annoying.

Let’s face it, almost 100%. Of these celebrities must have done some surgery in their lifetime. And to deny and lie about it is really shallow. Yet, when we see on the magazines, advertising and commercials they look so perfect and flawless! As if they were naturally born like that, no stress, no eye bags, cellulites and loose skin. Like hell yeah** really? Tell me, why deny about plastic surgery? It doesn’t make any difference between surgery, Photoshop, airbrushing and not eating to look so skinny? We all want to look our best but being hypocrite about it is a big No no. Being vain is normal and there is nothing wrong about it. But getting plastic surgery and not being honest about it is shallow.

Bombshell Actress Kate Hudson Gets Breast Augmentation Surgery

Many of the A-list actresses in Hollywood lately, opting breast implants to revamp their look from Nicole Richie, Cameron Diaz, Megan Fox, Leanne Rimes and now Kate Hudson. And if you guys noticed, all these A-list stars that had recently gone under the knife their breast implants looked so natural.

The new It surgeries now a days are very settle, very natural looking. In the past, women often get breasts augmentation to have big boobs. Most of the time, women bring pictures of Angelina Jolie or Megan Fox to their Doctors and crave to look like them or have the same nose and lips like these stars have. And that is a huge mistake and unrealistic! Many women when they undergo breast augmentation chose to choose a huge implant to have a big breast which results to a very unnatural look. When this happens, it makes the patient look fake and a victim of surgery gone wrong. Plastic surgery is created to enhance one’s look, not to change your looks. The idea is to bring the best version of you. It is best when considering plastic surgery to be realistic and doing it for yourself that way you get the best results that’s right for you. 

Kate Hudson and all the celebrities who underwent breast implants chose a small implant to make them look naturally sexy. Kate Hudson made a very good decision when she chose breast implants. Now she can finally be the Bombshell like everyone calls her to be. Good Job Kate!

Nicole Kidman Bad Looking Breasts Implants

Nicole Kidman is one of the most talented actresses in Hollywood. Every woman admires her classic style and beauty.  Nicole Kidman’s tall, perfect porcelain skin and slender body is her ultimate secret weapon. She has maintained her slender body all these years. I think everybody knows that this actress have been nominated for many awards and have achieved big block buster movies.  But just like any human being, trying to maintain youthful in the public eye seemed to add so much pressure on celebrities to look perfect., Nicole Kidman has been speculated to having Breast Implants and Lip Injections. We cannot blame her for doing so, after having kids it does take a huge toll on a woman’s body. 

The only problem is that even Celebrities too can make a huge mistake by choosing the wrong doctor.  We all know that Nicole Kidman always has always been flat chested. Another factor for the implants to look really unnatural is the woman’s weight. I noticed that when a woman is very skinny with almost no fat seemed to have breasts implants that are so un natural looking. There are many of that in Orange County, which is a big No. No! On the other half, Nicole Kidman is pretty skinny, you could see her rib cage then of course, her implants are very wide apart from each other which to me, her Plastic Surgeon failed the procedure and the finish product.

Teen Mom Star Farrah Abraham will show the world her Breast Augmentation 

Yes it is confirmed, you are right. Mtv’s Teen Mom star Farrah Abraham 19 years of age recently announced she is going to show the world when she got her Breast Implants done on TV. According to Farrah in her statement;

“This season, you’ll see me get a breast augmentation” Farrah, 19, says, “Just because I feel like I lost boobage from having a baby! I think it’s helped my confidence and for me to feel more like a woman.”  

Now what??? Is this some kind of a joke? This feels like watching Real Housewives, in my own opinion, the show is bad enough to watch for teenagers now a 19 year old is literally more concern on her looks than the future of her baby? Come on, I understand that we all want to look our best but hey! A 19 year old would undergo Breast Augmentation Surgery. She has been on tabloids not because of the show but after she had her breast done. I don’t think the show is a good example for teenagers getting pregnant and that they are very proud of it, this just isn’t appropriate. Adding plastic surgery at such a young age will influence more young women to have babies to be on the show and get money. Ah Ah! This is just not right. 

I have never watch the show nor will I have any interest in watching it, but the fact is that, teen Mom’s could get very superficial ever since they got their fame. Well enjoy it while it last. At the end of the day, making mistakes is part of our lives, being pregnant at a young age, but one can make a difference in her life by doing better things like worrying about getting their education, or saving up for a college fund for their baby not to have breast implants. To make it worse, showing it to the world! 

Most Doctors don’t allow a teenager to undergo breast augmentation surgery although it is very common here. But a good Surgeon has requirements, 21 years old and younger to be specific can’t undergo the surgery. In these case Doctors want to avoid future complications. 

So, the question is; do you think it’s okay in this modern day of society where Teenagers gets pregnant to be a part of a Reality Show and get paid good money, fame and surgery? Is this still normal? Yeah you bet.
