The problem with breast implants “On Top” of the muscle.

The problem with breast implants “On Top” of the muscle

The problem with breast implants “On Top” of the muscle. During the last decade and beyond, more and more breast implant surgeons are placing breast implants on top of the muscle rather than underneath.  The only reason we can guess as to why this is happening is that more surgeons are getting lazy!  Other than that, implants placed on top of the muscle can usually be done significantly cheaper than placing the implants under the breast muscle. Sub-glandular (under the breast glandular tissue, but on top of the muscle) is a much simpler, much shorter operation requiring less surgical skill.  Additionally, sub-glandular breast augmentation can be performed in the surgeon’s back office under local anesthesia instead of in a surgery center or hospital the initial results are usually OK for the first few years after surgery, but that is when problems can develop. Implants placed under the muscle offer several, very important advantages to those placed on top of the muscle.  In the short-term, sub-muscular implants provide a better appearance by hiding implant rippling, especially in very thin women.  The rate of breast implant hardness, known as capsular contracture, is significantly decreased.  Most importantly, placement of the implants under the muscle causes the muscle to act as an internal bra, holding the implants up in a higher, more youthful position. But the biggest problem is yet to come.  All women’s breasts will become droopy as the woman ages.  If the breast implants were initially placed on top of the muscle, the breast tissue will age much faster, creating droopy breasts that will undoubtedly need to be lifted later in life.  Remember, bigger breasts with implants placed on top of the muscle will age just like larger natural breasts would have, had the woman grown larger breasts in her teenage years and not needed implant surgery. Serious complications can occur when a woman finds she needs a breast lift after having breast implants originally placed on top the muscle.  When the original breast surgeon created the pockets on top of the breast muscle, he or she had to cut the blood vessels going to the breast tissue and overlying breast skin, since the blood vessels are in the way when the pockets are created.  This is not a problem at the time of the original operation because there is adequate blood supply coming from the skin and tissue at the edges of the breast pocket to supply the nipple with blood and oxygen. If, however, you want to have a breast lift later, there is usually not enough reserve blood supply coming from the edges of the pocket to supply adequate oxygen to heal the incisions in the breast tissue and skin adequately after a breast lift operation.  This problem can sometimes cause the nipple and surrounding breast tissue to suffer inadequate blood supply and oxygen deprivation during the immediate healing stage, resulting in the nipple and surrounding tissue dying within a few days after the breast lift operation.  This is an extremely difficult complication to treat and may require skin grafts to the breast and nipple with a poor cosmetic outcome at best. The only safe way to proceed, with a breast lift after breast implant placement on top of the muscle, is to first remove the implants altogether.  This will allow the blood vessels to hopefully grow back into the underside of the breast tissue as the implant pocket collapses after removal of the implants.  Six months later the woman can have new implants placed under the breast muscle and a breast lift performed at the same time. If you are considering breast implant surgery at all, speak with your surgeon in detail before surgery and strongly consider having him or her place your implants under the muscle to begin with.  In the long term you will be much, much happier. Sheyla Hershey tried to commit suicide after doctors removed her implants

Well, this is just a silicone sack full of sad. Sheyla Hershey, the woman who once held the record for having the largest breast implants in the world, is in a coma after she tried to commit suicide by overdosing on pills at her home in Houston. Five months ago, Sheyla was forced to get her 38M titty bags removed when she contracted an infection. At the time, Sheyla said that she was sad to say goodbye to the twin Sumo wrestlers on her chest, but her daughter and son come first. But I guess the void of not having implants was too much for Sheyla to handle.

The Sun reports that this is the second time in two months Sheyla has attempted suicide. Sheyla was in therapy for her silicone addiction, but it didn't help. Sheyla apparently said, "Once I reclaim my identity as the World's Biggest Boobs I can be a better role model for my daughter. I feel so ugly without my breasts. Without them, I don't know who I am."

Sheyla was supposed to get Kourtney, Khloe and Kim Kardashian (aka KKK implants) installed in her chest today. Sheyla's husband confirms that she's in a coma, "Doctors don't know when she'll wake. I just pray she gets out of it."

If only Aretha Franklin could find a way to transfer the fat melting off her chichis over to Sheyla. This is just a modern day tragedy I thought only existed on Nip/Tuck. Sheyla can't live with silicone, and she can't live without silicone either.

Jennifer Aniston’s stunning new appearance sparks plastic surgery rumors

Jennifer Aniston's stunning new appearance sparks plastic surgery rumors – Image WENN

The former Friends star has publicly admitted to having surgery on her nose. "I had a [deviated septum] fixed," she said, calling it the "best thing I ever did."

But according to NYC-based plastic surgeon Dr. Kevin Tehrani, who has not treated the actress, Jen may have had cosmetic nose surgery as well, OK reports. "Her tip appears to have been corrected; it looks very defined now," Dr. Tehrani tells OK!. "I think the bridge of her nose looks narrower as well. It's very common for people to say they're correcting a deviated septum when they are, in fact, getting cosmetic nose surgery."

Jen, has always denied having any cosmetic surgery, and she's downright adamant that she's completely natural. "As boring as it sounds, it's still all mine," she said last year.

Dr. Tehrani respectfully disagrees. "It looks like she may have had some filler in her upper lip. It's subtle, but it benefits her face," he says. "Her brows look elevated, which means she may have had some Botox in her forehead." Both procedures are so easy and painless that, according to Dr. Tehrani, Jen could have done them on her lunch break!

Bridalplasty Winner Allyson Donovan on Her Plastic Surgery, Dream Wedding Makeover

Allyson Donovan, the 32-year-old victor of the E! network's controversial series "Bridalplasty," may be the only winner of a reality-television competition to celebrate by getting cut.

Yet Donovan, an unemployed graphic designer and mother of 3-year-old Mason, did exactly that, having plastic surgery on her arms, chin, jowls and flanks (she calls them "woman handles") and a breast lift before walking down the aisle to greet longtime love John for a dream wedding paid for by the production.

For Donovan, who beat nine competitors — including conniving runner-up Janessa Wainwright — her post-surgical suffering was nothing compared with the celebrity-style wedding the show bankrolled. She was also treated to a total smile makeover. "It was well worth it!" she tells us.

For her big day, Donovan married at a stunning California coastal estate, outfitted in a Avant Mariée Katarina by Winnie Couture strapless gown, Chinese Laundry stilettos and custom wedding bands by Jason of Beverly Hills. Her face was heavily veiled until she reached the altar for her big reveal.

StyleList checked in with the Crestwood, Ill., native, who suffers from type 1 (or juvenile) diabetes, about her big day and new look.

LeAnn Rimes Breast Implants? Actress Gets Boob Job

LeAnn Rimes has a new fiancee. Does she have new breasts, too?

Leann Rimes Breast Augmentation

Us Weekly is reporting that Rimes recently underwent breast enhancement surgery, showing off her new boob job in a bikini during her Mexican beach vacation.

"She recently got a boob job," a source told the magazine. "She's always, always been insecure about her size. She was a small A-cup. She often talked about wanting to get implants. She'd say, "I just want a little bit so they're proportionate to my body.'"

In a cover story this fall with Shape Magazine, Rimes talked about her growing and maturing body, though did not mention any artificial help.

"I feel like my body is changing and that I'm growing up into a woman. I probably weigh about 6 pounds more than when I shot that cover, but my body fat is the lowest it's ever been. I've gained a lot of muscle, and I feel like I have more curves too. My butt–well, I've always had a butt–but now I definitely have a butt, which I love. I've taken up weight training three or four times a week, and I do a lot of squats. I've also been doing more cardio, even though I absolutely despise it. I try to get in a good 20 to 25 minutes before I do anything else; if I don't do it first, it won't happen.

Despite Economy, Breast Augmentation Surgery Rate Booming

BOOB jobs are booming in Britain – despite the recession.

A record 9,430 women opted for the op last year – a ten per cent uplift on 2009.

But as girls tried to replicate voluptuous figures like that of Mad Men TV star Christina Hendricks men wanted to get something off their chests.

The number of fellas having man boobs – moobs – removed rose a staggering 28 per cent, with 741 going under the knife in 2010.

Cosmetic surgery procedures overall rose five per cent last year, says the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS).

Male brow lifts and male nose jobs both rose 13 per cent. Facelifts proved popular among men and women, with an average rise of 12 per cent for both genders.

The few operations to lose favour included tummy tucks, down 7.5 per cent, and pinning back ears, down 17 per cent.

Fazel Fatah, consultant plastic surgeon and BAAPS chief, said: "The public's interest in aesthetic surgery remained strong in spite of the economic downturn. Procedures showing the more considerable rise seem to be concentrated on the most visible areas."

The number of ops carried out by BAAPS members has risen from 10,738 in 2003 to 38,274.

Here are a woman who had a boob job and a man who wants a moob job.
